Engraved 1880 for Art Union of London
by Lumb Stocks ( 1812–1892 ),
one of the last great geniuses with copperplate.

His detail is exquisite -
if you appreciate skill at copperplate.

Small versions of this print are cheap and common -
large original versions by Lumb Stocks are rather rare, I believe.

Description

Maws made these in various designs
for teaspoons and tablespoons,
and they are definitely an Edwardian period piece -
one can imagine starched nannies
dispensing foul-tastinging medicine to reluctant children.

Some can be seen in very smart travelling cases,
which are on eBay at quite high prices,
so hopefully our low price will attract a buyer or swapper.

ISRAEL - HEAVY BRASS ASHTRAY BY DAYAGI

Note

Dayagi made some very high quality castings,
some of which were enamelled,
while others painted with metallic paints, giving a most unusual effect.

Part of Israel's early history.

Looking on the net, Dayagi is not exactly expensive,
considering both age and the high quality of most of it.

Note

This ashtray is not a high quality casting - rather crude,
but the metallic blue-green paint makes it stand out,
and it will look great polished up.

Although between 50 to 80 years old, it has not had a lot of use -
the original varnish is still on, which has prevented it acquiring a patina.

I would strip the varnish off ASAP.
